Organizations

Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation
The pioneer organization dedicated to assuring patient safety. Formed in 1985 with the mission that "no patient shall be harmed from anesthesia," the APSF has been the leader in the proactive, successful efforts to dramatically improve the safety of anesthesia administration and reduce adverse events (quote from website). The first chapter of the APSF anesthesia machine workbook was developed with APSF funding. The APSF workbook will be presented at the APSF booth at the upcoming annual ASA meeting in San Francisco (10/2003).

The American Society of Anesthesiologists
The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) is an educational, research and scientific association of physicians organized to raise and maintain the standards of the medical practice of anesthesiology and improve the care of the patient (quote from website). The VAM was reviewed in the journal "Anesthesiology" and received two awards at the 2001 ASA meeting.

The Society for Technology in Anesthesia
